👤 About Paul
Hello, I’m Paul Eyres, founder of Paul the Cleaner, and an experienced professional currently working in data protection within Children’s Social Care for a local authority in the South of England. I am also a freelance creator specializing in producing meaningful, personalized life story videos that assist individuals, families, and professionals in preserving and sharing unique personal histories.
With extensive experience in care environments, including working with detained patients under the Mental Health Act, supported lodgings residents, and diverse social care cases, I understand the profound impact of storytelling. Whether supporting children in foster care to discover their identity, enabling grandparents to pass down cherished memories, or assisting teams to learn from lived experiences, my work integrates empathy, creativity, and innovative technology.
I specialize in delivering cost-effective, bespoke life story video production using structured storyboarding, AI-enhanced visuals, and advanced editing techniques. Whether you are a family member, educator, social care professional, or community organization, I am dedicated to helping you transform real-life stories into enduring legacies that foster connection and understanding.
Paul frequently plays badminton and supports Dorchester Town Football Club. In his younger years, he was an enthusiastic footballer, playing as a goalkeeper. He was also a member of the university parachute club and experimented with scuba diving. Paul enjoys reading about naval, maritime, and military and British political history, visiting local comedy clubs, dining out with friends, and occasionally going ten-pin bowling.
đź’ˇ Why I Do This
Every life matters, and every story deserves to be shared. Life story work plays a vital role in healing, education, connection, and inspiration. It goes beyond reflection, providing deep insights into identity and future direction. Incorporating life story work into care services is essential, yet it is frequently undervalued due to limited resources. Prioritizing life story work enhances person-centered care and supports emotional well-being, making it a crucial component in healthcare, social care, and therapeutic settings.

I guide you through a simple, supportive process:
- We start with a storyboard to shape your narrative
- Use AI tools to enhance visuals and bring your story to life

NANNY’S LIFE STORY

LIFE STORY WORK SWOT ANALYSIS

The strengths of the current approach to Life Story Work (LSW) are multifaceted and well-aligned with established policy frameworks such as NICE Guideline NG205 and the RiP (Recording in Practice) tools, which ensure evidence-based and standardized practices. Notably, children and carers have reported significant identity and relationship benefits, underscoring the intervention’s positive psychosocial impact. The model is supported by a clear theory of change and outcome logic, focusing on enhancing self-worth and promoting better care outcomes. Additionally, the adaptability of LSW across diverse populations—including adoption, adolescence, and dementia care—demonstrates its versatility and wide applicability. Recent momentum in Digital Life Story Work (DLSW), augmented by realist evaluation insights, further highlights the innovative potential of integrating technology into LSW practices (Digital Life Story Work: A Realist Evaluation, 2023).
However, despite these strengths, several weaknesses remain. The evidence base supporting LSW is relatively small-scale and heterogeneous, which limits the generalizability of findings. Quality varies considerably across studies, and many narratives remain incomplete or underdeveloped, reducing the robustness of the data. Furthermore, LSW often relies on resource-intensive models that are challenged by workforce shortages, making widespread implementation difficult. There are also inconsistencies in definitions and standards across different services, which can lead to confusion and variability in practice. Digital risks, such as data protection concerns and potential exclusion of individuals without adequate access to technology, present additional challenges that must be carefully managed (Data Protection in Digital Health, ICO, 2022).
Opportunities for future development center on scaling adolescent-focused low-intensity LSW interventions, which could increase accessibility and reduce resource demands. Group-based delivery models, such as the ANKOMMEN program, offer promising avenues for peer support and engagement. Professionalization of the field through targeted training, such as the Training for Life Story Work (TLSW) and Person-Centered Practice Framework (PPF), can enhance practitioner skills and standardize quality. Leveraging digital platforms with robust governance frameworks can expand the reach and efficiency of LSW interventions. Furthermore, expanding applications within dementia care and strengthening commissioning rationale could secure more sustainable funding streams and integration into health and social care services (NHS Digital Innovation Hub, 2023).
Nonetheless, several threats must be acknowledged. High workforce turnover and entrenched organisational culture barriers may hinder consistent delivery and quality assurance. There is a risk of retraumatization if LSW is conducted poorly or without appropriate safeguards. Data breaches and failures to obtain proper consent in digital contexts pose significant ethical and legal risks. Finally, ongoing funding uncertainty and the absence of universally accepted standards threaten the sustainability and scalability of LSW initiatives. Addressing these challenges will require coordinated efforts across policy, practice, and research domains to ensure that Life Story Work can fulfill its transformative potential (Policy and Practice in Life Story Work, Social Care Institute for Excellence, 2024).
Paul Eyres
Founder & Storytelling Innovator
Who Is Paul Eyres?
Paul’s career and interests span law, psychology, compliance, entrepreneurship, mental health advocacy and technology. With an LLB (Hons) in Law and a Certificate in Higher Education in Psychology, and currently studying for a BSC Hons in Forensic Psychology with the Open University with the hope of studying at Msc and P.h.D level, Paul brings a unique blend of academic insight and practical experience to everything he does. His work as a Compliance Officer in information governance (data protection) showcases his rigorous approach to managing sensitive information and ensuring top-tier data protection. At the same time, Paul’s entrepreneurial spirit shines through his long-running cleaning business, “Paul The Cleaner,” where he has provided reliable and compassionate services to a diverse range of clients, including social services and community mental health service users.
What Has Paul Done?
Paul’s career is characterised by a commitment to excellence and innovation. In his data protection role, he has handled complex tasks—ranging from Subject Access Requests (SAR) and FOI requests to court orders and data breach investigations—with meticulous attention to legal and ethical details. His technical proficiency is evident in his seamless use of software like Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, Power Automate Desktop, and advanced ICT skills, improving ICT security measures in his data protection work, which has earned him two internal council awards from his team in recognition of his achievements.

Beyond his public service work, Paul has successfully managed his own cleaning business, building strong relationships with clients from all walks of life. His innovative mindset is further highlighted by his work using his IT skills, for example, integrating Microsoft Co-Pilot for creative projects, continually seeking ways to streamline processes and improve efficiency for his co-workers in his day job.

For 18 years, he worked in hard, unfulfilling, low-paid manual jobs, thinking he might never have a fulfilling and mentally stimulating career —cleaning, retail, warehouse shifts, factory work, agency roles, doing everything possible to make ends meet and having to start up my own cleaning business to earn an independent income.

Then, eventually, he got his break. A role in data protection for children’s social services in a local authority changed everything. Working directly with child welfare records, Paul saw the real struggles of children in care—how their stories were buried in dense reports, how social workers worked tirelessly to piece together their narratives, and how the system lacked a clear, engaging way to help children understand their past.

Paul Eyres recognized the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in managing complex data and enhancing operational efficiency within social services. Despite advancements in technology, traditional life story work remains outdated, relying heavily on manual written reports. In the public sector, Paul observed that optimal workforce placement significantly boosts productivity; however, this ideal is seldom achieved. Identifying a market gap, Paul envisioned leveraging AI’s capabilities to innovate life story work by integrating it with his business acumen and expertise.
Although his quality of life had improved, the financial challenges from the cost of living crisis and the pandemic’s impact on his previous business limited his social activities. He yearned to engage more fully in cultural and social experiences such as attending comedy shows, dining out, football matches, musicals, and international travel.
Combining his business experience, legal qualifications, data protection knowledge, and proficiency in IT and artificial intelligence, Paul launched Paul Eyres AI Videos (Life Story Work). This service benefits both society and local authorities by reducing costs through AI-driven solutions, enabling reinvestment in public services. Children and vulnerable individuals receive emotionally compelling, AI-generated documentaries that capture their life stories with authenticity and empathy. For Paul, this venture represents a shift from merely surviving to truly living.
